Blip that broke a million hearts
Article Abstract:
The London, England stock market crash of 1987 was claimed to be of minor significance but the policy it created proved to be an overreaction. The 1992 recession shows its true effects. Employee numbers have fallen from 25,000 to 21,000 in 1992 and salaries are down to 40,000-80,000 basic from 150,000 pounds sterling. Risk awareness is the main theme. Some speculators were declared bankrupt. Small investors learnt from Black Monday that shares could go down as well as up; there are about 2 million less in 1992.

The Life Assurance and Unit Trust Regulatory Organisation (Lautro) stated that insurance companies should not quote examples with excessive profits but should show two different theoretical profits.
