Brideshead? Baloney
Article Abstract:
The UK government has eased rural planning restrictions, thus making it easier for new large country houses to be built. Some observers feel that this is an unwise move, as there are many old country houses which are in urgent need of renovation. It would be better to buy an existing home and renovate it sensitively than to build a vast new property. Large country homes are in fact going out of fashion in many social circles, where it is felt that lifestyles should become simpler.

Our best-loved beastie of the deep
Article Abstract:
Loch Ness already attracts 500,000 visitors a year, many of whom hope to see the famous Loch Ness monster. The existence of this animal has never been proved, but tourist still spend 25 million pounds a year in the area. The myth plays a key role in stimulating the local economy, and cynics claim that local tourist offices deliberately play on the possibility that a monster exists. Visitor numbers could rise as high as 1.5 million in 1996.
