Can immoral artists produce great works? Discuss (with examples)
Article Abstract:
It is common for authors, artists and musicians to be judged on the basis of their private lives, rather than by the merits of their works. A work should be allowed to transcend its creator and be evaluated in its own right, but this does not often happen. Taking into account the creator's private life can easily produce a misguided judgement and may lead to some works being rejected without true justification. This has been the case at Edinburgh University, Scotland, where a bust of author Arthur Koestler has been removed.

Arts funding: where the money goes ...
Article Abstract:
Arts funding in the UK comes from a range of different sources, including business sponsorship and the National Lottery. However, the Arts Council invests large sums in the leading national and regional institutions representing all types of art, and therefore has a stronger influence on the cultural agenda than any other sponsor of the arts. Some critics claims that arts funding is controlled by a network of people who subscribe to false values and are guilty of damaging elitism.
