Child B; the truth about her last days
Article Abstract:
The case of Jaymee Bowen, who was first diagnosed with cancer at the age of five and by the age of 10 was battling against acute myeloid leukaemia, attracted considerable controversy. Cambridge Health Authority refused to fund a second bone marrow transplant for her, and her father took legal action to force the health authority to pay. He lost his case, but an anonymous donor came forward. She received the treatment, and survived for a further year. A detailed study of her case indicates that there was considerable disagreement between the senior consultants who treated her.

Women take risk for cancer trial
Article Abstract:
None of the British women participating in the International Breast Cancer Intervention Study have dropped out of this trial following research in the US indicating that the breast-cancer drug tamoxifen can stop the disease arising in healthy women. The women participating in the trial do not know whether they are receiving a placebo or tamoxifen. Medical experts in the UK believe that insufficient research has been undertaken to be able to state with certainty that tamoxifen has strong breast cancer prevention properties.
