Cold comfort and the Last Judgement
Article Abstract:
Visitors to the convents and monasteries of Southern Bucovina, Romania, usually make Suceava, an unattractive industrialized town, their starting point. The easiest way to explore the region is to hire a car and driver, although in the summer it is possible to hike from monastery to monastery across the mountains. Voronet, known as the 'Sistine Chapel of the East,' has a striking fresco of the Last Judgement across the whole west wall of the central church. The smallest of the monasteries is Humor. This monastery has no tower, and has wooden ramparts in place of strong fortifications.

Article Abstract:
It is now possible to take a horse riding holiday in many different countries. In some countries, horse riding is possible throughout the year, while in other countries it is advisable to plan a riding holiday around weather conditions. It is wise to make time for some riding practice before the holiday and to carefully consider which holiday is best suited to your riding abilities. Some riding holidays involve moving from place to place, while others are based around a ranch or riding centre.

Way out of the ordinary
Article Abstract:
The city of Popayan, Colombia, founded by Sebastian de Belalcazar in 1536, is located a mile above sea level, giving it an unusual atmosphere. It still has its colonial character, with many pale rococo buildings. However, it is very busy and noisy during the day. Its attractions include its many churches and the Natural History Museum. It can also be used as a base from which to visit the archaeological sites of San Agustin, Colombia.
