Colin Hardie
Article Abstract:
Classical scholar Colin Hardie was Warner Exhibitioner and Honorary Scholar at Baliol College, Oxford, England. He gained a First in Mods in 1926 and a First in Greats in 1928, allowing with a number of classical prizes. He was a Junior Research Fellow at Baliol between 1928 and 1929, and was elected a fellow and tutor in 1930. He was elected Director of the British School at Rome, Italy, in Feb 1933. He moved to Magdalen College, Oxford, in 1936, remaining there for 37 years, apart from a break for war service in the War Office and the Interservice Topographical Dept of the Admiralty.

Ilya Gershevitch
Article Abstract:
Philologist Ilya Gershevitch was born in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1914. He studied classics and comparative philology at the University of Rome, Italy, and then studied Iranian languages at the School of Oriental Studies, London University, England. He became Lecturer in Iranian Studies at Cambridge University, England, in 1948.

Brian Miller
Article Abstract:
English scholar and philologist Brian Miller was born in Birmingham, England, in 1924. He gained a First in English at St John's College, Oxford, England, and in 1953 became Hulme Lecturer in English Philology at Brasenose College.
