Article Abstract:
Aeronautical engineer Harold Roxbee Cox was interested in aeroplanes from a very early age. He went to work for Austin at Longbridge, England, at the age of 16, and was responsible for designing the tail section of the single-seater Whippet. He studied at London University and Imperial College, and from 1932 to 1938 was external lecturer in aircraft structures at Imperial College. He became Head of the Air Defence Dept in 1938, and in 1940 was made responsible for the development of gliders.

Anne Burns
Article Abstract:
Aeronautical engineer and glider pilot Anne Burns was born in Haworth, England, in 1915. She joined the Royal Aircraft Establishment during the second world war, and in 1953 became a Principal Scientific Officer.

Brian Trubshaw
Article Abstract:
Test pilot and aviation consultant Brian Trubshaw was born in Llanelli, Wales, in 1924. He joined the RAF in 1942, and later became director of flight tests at British Aircraft Corp.
