Those devoted to 'higher causes' know FA about management
Article Abstract:
Recent controversy surrounding Football Association Chief Executive Graham Kelly, who has now resigned, highlights problems with inadequate management structures at the Football Association. Developments there can be compared with the situation faced by Mary Allen when she became Royal Opera House Chief Executive. Here, there were serious financial difficulties and a lack of overall control. A similar situation existed at the BBC before a much stricter management style was introduced, especially by Michael Checkland and John Birt.
