Article Abstract:
It has become increasingly common in the UK for parents to contemplate taking legal action against a school if their child's examination results are not as good as had been expected. In some cases, the pupils themselves are taking their school to court. This trend is part of a wider tendency in UK society to take legal action where there has been a perceived failure to fulfill a duty. It is certainly true that there can be serious consequences if a school makes a bad mistake in predicting examination results, but schools are very concerned about the high costs associated with legal action.

Far too long on the couch
Article Abstract:
Psychoanalysis can undoubtedly bring benefits to some patients, but there is growing concern in the UK about the lack of a clear regulatory framework within which psychoanalysts must work. Some psychoanalysts have tested new theories on patients without any form of restraint, and may even have gone as far as blackmail. When choosing a psychoanalyst, it is important to ascertain exactly what the treatment will involve and to agree a period after which the case will be referred to an independent second opinion to be reassessed.
