Maurice Austruc, master cheese-maker of the confederation controlling roquefort production, explains that roquefort should be treated like wine and served at the correct maturity. However, a balanced version, Cave de l'Abeille, must be used for pre-packaged versions sold in supermarkets. Caves des Arnals is a younger cheese and the stronger Caves des Baragnaudes is aged twice as long to produce a different flavour and consistency. The confederation's 150th birthday is celebrated at Roquefort sur Soulzon in the Cevennes in 1992.

Article Abstract:

In Jun 1992 the US Supreme Court ruled that the extradition treaty with Mexico had not been transgressed when Humberto Alvarez Machain was kidnapped from Mexico in Apr 1990. He had been involved with the torture of Enrique Camarena, a US Drug Enforcement Agency undercover agent who was murdered in Mar 1985. The court decided that as the treaty does not specifically forbid the arrest of an alleged criminal on foreign soil, a new clause could be written in that citizens could be taken to the offended country for trial.
