Did they kill him? We may never find out
Article Abstract:
It seems unlikely that the five main suspects in the racist murder of black teenager Stephen Lawrence in Apr 1993 will ever be convicted. Three were acquitted in 1996 following a private prosecution brought by Lawrence's family, while the other two were not tried because of insufficient evidence. It is known that the suspects had been involved in other violent incidents, several of which seemed to be racially motivated. They have steadfastly refused to answer questions about the murder, which has fuelled suspicions that they were involved.

Two of Lawrence murder gang could be innocent, police say
Article Abstract:
It is likely that Luke Knight and Gary Dobson were not members of the racist gang responsible for the murder of black teenager Stephen Lawrence in London, England, in 1993, according to detectives. Investigations are now focusing on a number of local men known to have connections with David Norris and Jamie and Neil Acourt, who are the main suspects. The dismissal of Knight and Dobson as suspects will back up the arguments of those who have been critical of the police officers who undertook the original investigation.
