Actress Dorothy Lee developed an interest in the stage at a very early age. She appeared in a vaudeville act at the age of 14, and then worked as an extra in several silent films. She sang with Fred Waring and his Pennsylvanians in the Broadway show 'Hello Yourself' in 1928, and then appeared with this band in the 1929 film 'Syncopation.' She won critical acclaim for her role in the 1929 film 'Rio Rita.' She retired in 1941, but returned to the stage in the 1950s to appear in fund-raising shows.
