Dungannon estate celebrates the IRA's expulsions
Article Abstract:
There are reportedly 25 people aged between 16 and 25-years-old from Downpatrick, Northern Ireland, who have been threatened by the Irish Republican Army (IRA). This is part of a wider trend of paramilitary groups from both sides of the ethnic divide who have told those seen guilty of vandalism, car theft and other crimes to leave Northern Ireland or face physical punishment and even death. The Northern Ireland Human Rights Bureau estimates that 800 people have been exiled since April 1998. Supporters of the move argue that the IRA has succeeded in tackling a problem of crime that the police were unable to solve.
