Prides and prejudices
Article Abstract:
Visitors to the Tarangire National Park in Tanzania are able to stay in tents which offer a considerable amount of luxury. Wild animals often stray quite close to the tourist camps, so visitors are led around after dark by an armed guard. Most of the time, animals are viewed from four-wheel drive vehicles, as the Tanzanian authorities do not permit foot safaris. It is fascinating to view animals such as hyenas, cheetahs and leopards that seem to be barely aware of the presence of humans.

Rivers deep, mountains high
Article Abstract:
It is possible to travel along Mexico's Copper Canyon by rail. This trip, which takes at least 13 hours, runs from the Pacific coast town of Los Mochis to the industrial city of Chihuahua, and can be completed all at once or in stages. The region has not yet attracted large numbers of tourists, so it is possible to glimpse local life as it really is. There are many small Indian communities along the route, and the track passes through many areas of outstanding beauty.
