Factor fifty clothes put sun creams in the shade
Article Abstract:
Most summer clothes have a sun protection factor of less than 15 and so a UK designer Karen Scott has devised a range of hats and parasols which offer a sun protection factor of up to 50 UPF. This was done by utilising ultraviolet absorber products from UK chemicals company Clariant UK with the coating meaning that only between 5% and 10% of ultraviolet rays can go through the fabric. Other companies in this market are Australian Kaola Konnection and Sting Ray and in the UK Retro UK has linked up with the Health Education Authority to offer children's clothing with fabrics with a UVF of 50.

A conventional shade of green
Article Abstract:
Labour party leader Tony Blair's recent speech to the Royal Society about environmental policy contained some sound views, but did not show any real initiative. This reflects the problems facing politicians in dealing with environmental issues. There is very little scope for introducing new environmental policies which are not too costly, and there are few ideas which have not at least been considered already. Tony Blair's speech particularly failed to state how a high-skill economy can be linked with high environmental standards.

Basque out of the shade
Article Abstract:
It rains rather frequently in San Sebastian, Spain, but this city is still worth visiting. It has a very attractive beach, and is strongly influenced by Basque culture. There are a number of interesting churches and museums, and the city also has some excellent walks. It has many very good restaurants, along with traditional bars selling local dishes. The local people eat large amounts of fresh fish, and the fish market is a focal point for the city.
