Falling behind on housework
Article Abstract:
Housing capital receipts stand at 3.7 billion pounds sterling but are treated as 'negative expenditure' to reduce the Public Sector Borrowing Requirement (PSBR). Shelter, the housing charity, asked the government to review their policies and allow new home building. Three-quarters of housing receipts must be used for debt repayment. Housing associations collaborate with councils in some areas to provide social housing. The government is said to prefer planning gain agreements. The Institute of Housing wants council housing to be accounted in private sector activity to enable borrowing from the private market and not included in the PSBR.

Soon you'll have to dress up to answer the telephone
Article Abstract:
Videophones have so far been used only by businesses, as domestic users have been deterred by the cost and by the fact that there is no point owning a videophone if the people whom you wish to phone do not own a videophone too. However, kits which convert personal computers into videophones are becoming increasingly popular. It is likely that a home market for videophones will emerge as people become more and more convinced of the benefits.

Fear and loathing in the office
Article Abstract:
Bullying at work is a more common problem than is generally thought. The bully is often someone who feels insecure, while the person being bullied is not necessarily weak or not good at his or her job. Bullying can create a very tense working atmosphere, and it can often be hard to challenge the bully, especially if he or she is close to senior management.
