Film industry's favourites: now showing in black and white
Article Abstract:
The British Film Institute has published a list of the 100 favourite British feature films, as selected by a panel of 1,000 directors, critics, producers and others involved with the film industry. Carol Reed's 1949 film 'The Third Man' was voted the best film, with the best director being David Lean. There are no films at all by women directors, and there are several surprising omissions and anomalies, including the fact that the list includes no films by Bill Douglas or Alan Clarke.

Coupe set for a superhero's comeback
Article Abstract:
Many leading car manufacturers are offering glamorous coupe models for summer 1997. These include the CLK four-seat, 3.2-litre, V6 coupe from Mercedes, which will be available from Jun 1997, and the Volvo C70, which is a 2.3-litre, five-cylinder model. In the sector of the market below 20,000 pounds sterling, coupes are replacing hot hatches as the most desirable cars in terms of style. However, many companies are unwilling to purchase two-door cars for their fleets.

Challenge to the company favourites
Article Abstract:
The UK fleet car market has been dominated for some time by the Vauxhall Vectra and the Ford Mondeo. However, there have been a number of new entrants recently. These include the Volkswagen Passat, the Mitsubishi Galant and the Peugeot 406. Both the Vauxhall Vectra and Ford Mondeo have been revamped, and are likely to continue to see strong sales. There are particularly good prospects for the Vauxhall Vectra, which now features the Trafficmaster Oracle system.
