The Comite Francais d'Organisation de la Coupe du Monde, which is responsible for organizing the 1998 World Cup, is expected to spend around Fr250 million on technology relating to the competition. It has established links with EDS, which will act as systems integrator, with France Telecom, as telecommunications supplier, with Hewlett Packard, as hardware supplier, and with Sybase, as software supplier. Ordinary people will be most aware of the official Web site, which is already attracting 7 million visitors a day.
