Found: Britain's lost tribe
Article Abstract:
Brithdir Mawr is a settlement in Wales which calls itself an eco-community. It has received publicity following stories in the national press of the community having been discovered due to aerial photographs showing a solar panel in a house with a grass roof. The inhabitants aim to be self-sufficient, but the adults all hold jobs outside the community. They are also well able to deal with money and funding, and have obtained funding from the Welsh Office to restore stonework. They are trialling low-cost housing, and the local government wishes to demolish some of their contructions.

Elizabeth David's final recipe: take one culinary saint, two rival books, add wine and sex and stir to boiling point
Article Abstract:
Cookery writer Elizabeth David hated the idea of food as fashion, according to Lisa Chaney, David's unofficial biographer. Her biography, entitled 'Elizabeth David: A Mediterranean Passion,' has attracted considerable controversy, especially as it was published only very shortly before an official biography by Artemis Cooper comes out in 1999. Chaney was originally attracted to David through the latter's writing about Italy, and it was not until much later that she began to learn about the wild life David led.
