Frames of mind
Article Abstract:
Charlie Waite is a well established photographer of landscapes and has produced 20 books on his work and had many exhibitions. His pictures, taken over the last 15 years, invariably exclude any people in them. He also carefully avoids any ecological message as opposed to Fay Goodwin who actively includes pollution as an integral part of her work. He believes landscapes are there to make people feel good, not to depress them. He advises photographers to wait for the light to tell them what do do, he himself sometimes waiting for hours for a particular effect to be achieved.

Whoops! There goes a double negative
Article Abstract:
The retrospective exhibition of the work of photographer and painter Man Ray currently being held at the Serpentine Gallery has given observers the opportunity to reassess his influence. He is most well known for his photographs, but he always wanted to be more famous for his paintings. The exhibition seems to be supporting the traditional view that his paintings were of a much lower quality than his photographs, but it is important to look beyond this.
