The traps of fame
Article Abstract:
Peter Donohue, pianist, has turned his attention to conducting and will be conducting Orchestra of the Mill which he founded, in Birmingham on Jan 25 92. Donohue feels that versatility in musicians is vital and also admits that conducting is attractive because of the hard work of practicing an instrument and playing on the rounds of concerts. His own orchestra was founded in 1988 in association with Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council, and he hopes to make his conducting debut with it, away from public notice.

Mezzo on the move
Article Abstract:
Sally Burgess is a mezzo-soprano performing in opera, jazz and ballet. She finds it easier to sing on the move. The classicism of opera and ballet training gives a common ground. She is appearing in Alter Ego, singing songs by Debussy. The choreographer Jennifer Jackson has taken advantage of the singer's willingness to be manoeuvred. She has natural grace and moves in a lyrical way.
