Carbonated soft drinks
Article Abstract:
In 1999, sales of carbonated soft drinks (colas, lemonade, flavored carbonates and mixers) stood at 5,380mn liters, [pounds sterling]4,210mn in terms of value. Coca-Cola Enterprises and Britvic Soft Drinks are the market leaders, accounting for 46% and 27.5% of total carbonate value sales in the same period. While children and teenagers are the major consumers of carbonates, drawing the older consumers is one of the challenges facing suppliers. To maintain consumer interest, range extensions and re-launches have become the norm. The prospects for this dynamic market point towards continued growth.

Frozen fish
Article Abstract:
In 1998 the frozen fish market recorded sales of 100,502 tons, valued at [pounds sterling]443.6mn, marking a fall of 10% by volume and 2% by value over the 1994 levels. The cause has been attributed to a substantial rise in prices of raw materials, as well as a consumer-shift to fresh fish and other categories of food. The frozen fish sector comprises natural and coated fish, fish fingers, fish cakes, fish in sauce and specialty fish, including shellfish. New products are being launched, especially added-value products. Birds Eye Wall continues to be the foremost brand in the frozen fish sector.
