In 1994, consumer spending on furniture and household textiles fell 3% to 7.2 billion pounds sterling, compared to 1990. Living and dining room furniture takes the lion share of the market with sales of 2 billion pounds sales in 1994. The market is affected by a variety of aspects including the housing market, the economy, fashion design and demographic trends.
