Rover gears up its stylish 75 to take on prowling Jaguar S-type
Article Abstract:
The Rover 75 and the Jaguar S-type are set to attract particular attention from visitors to the 1998 British International Motor Show at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, England. The Rover 75, which replaces the 600 and 800, has a large Rover front grille and a lot of chrome edging and accenting. The new S-type has the same ovoid front grille and round headlamps as its predecessors. Engines are the existing 4.0-litre V8 and a powerful new 3.0-litre V6.

Volkswagen is set to buy out Birmingham-based van manufacturer LDV by purchasing the stakes of both Daewoo and 3i. The deal means that LDV will have access to European distribution networks, thus able to maximise the sales of its new model, which will go into production in 2001.
