Gaston Berlemont
Article Abstract:
Publican Gaston Berlemont worked in his father's pub in Soho, London, England, as a child. He worked as an interpreter in the Royal Air Force between 1940 and 1946, and in 1953 took over as landlord of the pub following his father's death. He cultivated a cult of his own personality, portraying himself as a typical Frenchman. The pub faded into obscurity in the 1960s and 1970s, but enjoyed a revival in the 1980s. He finally retired in 1989.
