The media has infiltrated all aspects of everyday life, and has become a form of secular worship which has displaced God in most people's lives. Modern society worships change, and journalists now exist to fulfill this need. The media divides all aspects of life into compartments, and has even treated religion in this way, even though all religions exist as a way of understanding life as a whole. Many people now feel that that the media is a form of religion as it offers explanations for everything that happens.

Technology such as electronic mail and fax machines has made it easier for people to communicate, but can also be dangerous if it reveals illicit communications, such as those conducted during adultery. Some answering machines can record calls, but many people do not realize that they are being recorded. Similarly, some mobile phones can be set up to divert calls to a telephone at home. Electronic mail can be a particularly risky form of communication, as it is not as private as many people believe.
