How to seduce a Kensington Tory
Article Abstract:
Alan Clark, who has recently been selected as parliamentary candidate for the constituency of Kensington and Chelsea, London, England, behaves in a very different way from most Conservative MPs. He has unashamedly old-fashioned views on issues such as race relations and feminism, and makes no attempt to be politically correct. Despite this, he seems to appeal to members of the local Conservative party. Some observers feel that his selection may reflect the fact that local Conservative party members feel that the party has little chance of winning the general election.

Gratitude, not grief, for modest monk who touched the lives of so many
Article Abstract:
The main sentiment among those who attended the funeral service of Cardinal Basil Hume, head of the Roman Catholic Church in England and Wales, was gratitude for his life, rather than grief. It was widely acknowledged that he touched the lives of many people and brought the church into the mainstream of public life in the UK. The funeral was attended by many Catholic dignitaries, but also by ordinary people and by representatives from other faiths.
