Ground war seems inevitable, but what kind of peace will follow it?
Article Abstract:
Ground war appears likely in Kosovo, Yugoslavia, following intelligence failures and accidents in the air bombing campaign. Yugoslav president, Slobodan Milosevic, has been indicted as a war criminal, which makes it difficult for a compromise allowing him to save his face. The refugees cannot return to Kosovo unless they are protected by troops from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The Serb population of Kosovo is likely to leave if NATO advances into Kosovo. There will be problems enough in seeking to maintain peace without complicating them with the involvement of Milosevic in conferences after the fighting ends.

The day I met a mass killer - and he smirked, knowing he'd escape justice
Article Abstract:
The Arusha tribunal is making progress with bringing the perpetrators of war crimes in Rwanda to justice. Similar developments are taking place in former Yugoslavia, where the international court has been undertaking investigations and making indictments. War crimes in these two countries have fuelled demands for a permanent court to try war criminals. Those involved in the negotiations to set up this court are aware that it may lack power if it is not independent of the major powers and if it cannot operate without the permission of the country it wishes to investigate.

Family values fall apart in our workaholic corporate culture
Article Abstract:
It has become extremely common in the UK for people to devote much more time to their work than to their family. Indeed, for many people work is the family. Many companies have developed a culture in which employees are expected to devote themselves entirely to their work, while some people work very long hours out of economic necessity. In such an environment, family life can suffer. Children gain the impression that work is more important than family, while parents present extremely distorted role models.
