Helter skelter: thirty years of the Manson family
Article Abstract:
Charles Manson continues to receive more correspondence than any other prisoner in the history of the US penal system, even though it is now 30 years since three of his followers murdered the occupants of a house near Los Angeles, CA, and a couple in Los Feliz, CA. The mystery behind why he ordered these murders has made him the subject of endless fascination. He still has followers, and his songs continue to be produced. The murders had a sobering impact in Hollywood, leading to a much higher level of security in the area.

Article Abstract:
There has recently been a revival of interest in the cases of former Symbionese Liberation Army members Kathleen Soliah and James Kilgore, who disappeared in 1975. Their friends are now being questioned by the police and the FBI, as are family members and former comrades. Attempts have been made to contact Soliah through intermediaries. The key player in this revival of interest is Lieutenant David Reyes of the Los Angeles Police Dept. Some observers believe that his main motive is to boost his own career.
