Herbert Kline

Documentary filmmaker Herbert Kline became one of several editors for Left Front magazine in Chicago, IL, in his 20s. He then moved to New York, NY, where he was editor of New Theater magazine. He also became involved with the New York Film and Photo League. He travelled to Spain in Dec 1936 to report on the civil war, and by Mar 1937 had cooperated with Hungarian photographer Geza Karpathi to make 'Heart of Spain.' He collaborated with Czech cameraman and editor Alexander Hackenschmied to make 'Crisis,' and later worked with him again on 'Lights Out in Europe.'

Herbert Ross

Film director and choreographer Herbert Ross was born in New York, NY, in 1927. He made his stage debut in Miami, FL, at the age of 15 with a touring company of Ballet Theatre. He toured as an actor with a Shakespearian company and danced on Broadway before his first ballet, 'Caprichos,' in 1949.

Jules Buck

Film producer Jules Buck was born in St Louis, MI, in 1917. He began his working life as a photographer and worked as a cameraman with the Signal Corps during the second world war. He later co-founded Horizon Pictures.
