Hi-tech is becoming fashionable
Article Abstract:
The fashion industry has traditionally shunned the use of information technology, but this situation is now beginning to change. Fashion label Red or Dead, for example, used interactive entertainment technology in its show at the 1998 London Fashion Week to present a background showing a virtual journey around the US. This label has also been a pioneer in the use of the Internet as a way of boosting brand awareness and offering virtual shopping. Designer Paul Smith will make the first use in the fashion industry of Flash technology from Macromedia for his redesigned Web page.

Maps of the human heart
Article Abstract:
An exhibition entitled 'From place to PLACE: an Exhibition of People's Parish Maps' is currently being held at the Barbican Centre's Concourse Gallery, London, England. A parish can be interpreted in a number of different ways, and leaves a great deal to the imagination. Some observers may see it as limiting, while others may regard it as liberating. Maps tend to contain many familiar features, and are therefore almost like an old friend.
