Hillary comes to terms with age and role
Article Abstract:
Hillary Clinton has become involved in travel and charitable works, emphasising the rights of children and women. She presented herself as a professional woman and a partner to her husband when he was elected president. She supported him during the Gennifer Flowers scandal, but was criticised for wishing to be president herself. She withdrew to take on the role of wife and mother after her work on healthcare reform was rejected. She is re-emerging, but appears to have been tamed.

Suffragettes' fax: use that vote!
Article Abstract:
American women organised themselves to campaign against policies they disliked and for things they wanted. They voted for Bill Clinton. About 51% of working women voted for him compared to 36% of men. They sought childcare, family leave and the right to abortion. In the UK women are still low paid and lack childcare facilities. In the 1992 election 43% women under 24 voted Labour and 30% Tory. They could follow American women and become more organised by the next election.
