Honeymoon is over for Peres
Article Abstract:
The Islamic militant movement Hamas has claimed responsibility for two suicide bomb attacks which took place recently, one in Jerusalem and one in the coastal town of Ashkelon. The first killed 22 bus passengers and left a further 50 people injured. The second, at a hitch-hiking pickup point used by soldiers, killed one Israeli. The attacks were stated to be in revenge for the assassination of Yahya Ayyash, regarded as the driving force behind the suicide bombing campaign.

Jerusalem bomb blasts peace plan
Article Abstract:
Israeli prime minister Shimon Peres now faces an uncertain future following a suicide bomb attack by militant Islamic movement Hamas on a bus in the centre of Jerusalem. The attack killed the bomber and 18 other passengers, and is the second of its kind in a very short time. Shimon Peres has announced full scale war against Hamas, but many observers believe that the extensive measures planned will not be effective.
