How green is our government?
Article Abstract:
The UK government's environmental policy is coming under considerable pressure, and ministers are now seeking to win more time to develop responses to latest challenges. Environmentalists and those in favour of expanding the road network have both raised concerns about the recently published review of road-building policy, which involves approving five major projects and deferring a further six. Ministers are also reviewing the previous Conservative administration's plans for at least 60% of new housing to be built within existing towns.

The world won't be overcrowded after all
Article Abstract:
There are many countries across the world where population growth will come to an end within a few decades. In some cases, populations have even started to decline. Two-thirds of the world's population will by 2018 live in countries where the average woman has 2.1 children or less. Population growth has been dramatically reduced by the growing use of contraception, and this has given poor countries more time to deal with political, social and environmental problems.
