How to cure a corporate world still hooked on debt
Article Abstract:
An Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) report on tax systems suggets that most world tax systems need to be changed despite the recent innovations in some OECD countries. The report maintains that most tax systems favour debt rather than raising equity capital and that recent reforms cause other problems such as reduced foreign investment. The Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) would like to see Britain adopt a German model which does not put gains from inflation as profits, alternatively they suggest a return to stock relief.

Big corporate pay rises arm Labour for tax reform
Article Abstract:
Directors of the UK's leading companies are continuing to enjoy very large pay rises, and this is in turn reflecting very badly on the government at a time when ordinary employees are facing unemployment and seeing very small salary increases. The Labour party uses every piece of news about large director pay rises to considerable political advantage. In fact, media coverage of high pay rises is misleading, as average increases are quite modest, and some companies are showing much more restraint.
