I didn't like my daughter. So I left
Article Abstract:
Simone Plant emphasizes that she has had to struggle with a very heavy burden of guilt after leaving her family home in 1997 after bitter conflict with her older daughter. She attributes her problems with her daughter to the fact that she suffered severe postnatal puerperal psychosis, rendering her unable to care for her daughter properly. She also came to resent the close bond that was created between her daughter and her husband. She recalls that it was extremely hard for her to leave her family, but believes that she did the right thing.

Fostering brought out the best in us
Article Abstract:
Ken Thomas was very aware of public hostility towards gay fosterers when he and his partner Iain Macdonald began fostering in 1990. Indeed, he sometimes wonders whether they would have gone ahead if they had realized how difficult fostering would be. Macdonald recalls having reservations about fostering, but felt that he and Thomas had something to offer. He believes that fostering has been a watershed in their lives.
