'I hoped Guy's Buddhism was a phase, like skateboarding.'
Article Abstract:
Novelist Katie Fforde recalls that she felt betrayed when her sons Guy and Francis decided to join a Buddhist community. She felt that her sons had turned against everything that she and husband represented, and also that she and her husband had failed their sons. However, she now feels less frightened by Buddhism. Her son Guy believes that he was initially attracted to Buddhism because he saw it as exotic. He has now left the Buddhist community, but feels that he will always have a very strong link with Buddhism.
