Ugly memories of brave experiment
Article Abstract:
South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission has heard the stories of many victims of apartheid since 1996. Their stories have served to condemn apartheid, as have the matter-of-fact confessions of those who perpetrated torture and murder during the apartheid era. One of the commission's most significant failures was its inability to establish the chain of command to the cabinet of the National Party, which has refused to accept responsibility for the atrocities.
