Actor Ian Bannen was educated at Ratcliffe College, Leicestershire, England. He served as a corporal in the Army, and made his stage debut in 1947 at the Gate Theatre in Dublin, Ireland. He joined the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre Co in 1951, remaining there for four seasons. He made his stage debut in London, England, in 1955 in 'Prisoners of War' at the Irving Theatre. He made the first of several appearances in the works of Eugene O'Neill in 1958 in 'The Iceman Cometh.' He appeared in many television productions, including 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy' and 'Dr Finlay's Casebook.'

Red Skelton

Actor and comedian Richard ('Red') Skelton began performing in public at the age of seven, when he sang in the street for money. He came from a very poor family, and left school at the age of 10 to join a medicine show. He gradually began performing in music halls, and in 1937 was given a spot at the Paramount Theatre in New York, NY. His first film role was in the 1937 RKO film 'Having Wonderful Time,' and he was signed to a contract by MGM in 1941.

Alex Nicol
Article Abstract:
Actor Alex Nicol was born in Ossining, NY, in 1916. He studied at the Fagin School of Dramatic Arts and then joined Maurice Evans' theatrical company. He made his Broadway debut in 1939 in 'Henry IV Part One.'
