The BBC's Arabian plight
Article Abstract:
The BBC was initially very attracted to a deal with Saudi-based broadcaster Orbit, under which the latter concern would pay up to 10 million pounds sterling a year for the Arabic Television Service, produced from BBC studios in London. However, the project proved unsuccessful, and has now been abandoned after only two years. The main problem was differences between the two partners over editorial control and censorship.
