If control freakery means strong leadership, then I plead guilty
Article Abstract:
Some observers believe that there is a strong desire among the leaders of the UK Labour party to exert total control over the activities of all the party's members. However, it is also possible to argue that it is necessary for the Labour party to be disciplined if it is to continue to operate successfully as the party of government and to meet its commitments. Indeed, most members of the Labour party are in favour of strong control from the centre, thus ensuring that there is no return to the factionalism of the past.

Blair's babes nudge for places at the top table
Article Abstract:
There are strong links between many of the young politicians and advisers in the United Kingdom Labor party. These people have daily access to the prime minister, Tony Blair, and help formulate policy. They may have studied at school or university together and have other links such as playing soccer together. They include the head of the No10 policy unit, David Miliband, and the adviser to the chancellor Gordon Brown, Ed Miliband, brother of David.
