All the way to the bank
Article Abstract:
The Comedy Store in London, England, which opened in 1979, owes its success to the fact that it broke away from traditional approaches to stand-up comedy in the UK. Its performers avoided conventional racist and mother-in-law jokes, and instead adopted an overtly political tone. There is now a very strong stand-up comedy circuit in the UK, and good club stand-up comedians can earn as much as 30,000 pounds sterling a year.
