Imagine: trees, bears and wolves too
Article Abstract:
Mr Alan Watson is a 38-year-old vegan, lives in the alternative community for spiritual development, the Findhorn Foundation and is involved in Trees For Life, an environmental project. This project aims to restore the Caledonian Forest which is down to 1% of its original size. It has the support of the Forestry Commission, the Nature Conservancy Council and has received 5,000 pounds sterling as the award for the UK Conservation Project of the Year. Mr Watson plans to recover the 600-square miles of hills around Glen Affric with natural wilderness, trees and animals. The trees would be of different shapes as in a natural forest, unlike commercial sustainable woodland.

Watch the birdie, and pay for the privilege
Article Abstract:
People are now prepared to pay considerable sums of money to witness wild animals in their natural environments. Nature tourism has become a very profitable business, and can bring some benefits to the environment. However, it also has some negative aspects. Rural communities with no other source of income are starting to rely on it too heavily, and it is to be regretted that the UK seems only to be able to make tourist attractions out of things that are in danger of disappearing altogether.

Thrushes are dying out and no one knows why. This man is determined to change that
Article Abstract:
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) has become increasingly concerned about the decline in song thrush numbers across the UK. In response, it has commissioned Roy Taylor to find out why these birds are still thriving in a small part of West Sussex. He has obtained permission to use the land of 40 farms and ordinary homes, and works extremely long hours. He has already mapped 200 pairs of song thrushes in the study area.
