It is believed that more than 100 Britons were working in the World Trade Centre when it was attacked by terrorists. Many are still missing, and hope is now fading of finding them alive. More than 12,000 people have contacted the Foreign Office help line seeking information about relatives and friends.

Attacks are unjustified say British Muslims

There is a strong feeling within the Islamic community in the UK that the Allied military action against Afghanistan is unjust. Some Muslims feel that Islam itself is being targeted, even though Prime Minister Tony Blair has emphasized that the military action is not linked with culture or religion.
