In this serene town, disbelief as the sea becomes a graveyard once again for so many travellers
Article Abstract:
Wreckage from EgyptAir flight 990, which crashed between 30 and 40 minutes after taking off from Kennedy airport, New York, NY, on Oct 31, 1999, bound for Cairo, Egypt, has been found around 60 miles due south of Nantucket Island, MA. This is the latest in a series of aircraft crashes in the corridor running north-east from the airports of New York. In Sep 1998, an MD-11 wide-body Swissair jet crashed off Halifax, Nova Scotia, while in Jul 1999 the Piper Saratoga aircraft carrying John F. Kennedy plunged into the Atlantic while approaching the airport on the island of Martha's Vineyard.

TWA 800 inquiry lost in a labyrinth
Article Abstract:
It remains unclear what caused TWA Flight 800 to crash, killing 230 people, on Jul 17, 1996. A large-scale investigation is still taking place, and around 95% of the aircraft has been recovered. It was initially believed that the Boeing 747 aircraft had been the victim of sabotage, but there is no evidence as yet to prove this theory. The FBI has admitted that it is rapidly running out of leads, and will probably bring its part of the inquiry to an end shortly. It is now believed that the aircraft suffered some sort of mechanical failure, which is a cause for considerable concern.

214 dead as jet plunges into sea
Article Abstract:
There has been speculation that the sudden plunge of EgyptAir Flight 990 from Kennedy airport in New York, NY, to Cairo, Egypt, into the Atlantic south of the island of Nantucket, MA, was caused by a bomb. It has been disclosed that there was a threat of a bomb being used on a flight leaving Los Angeles, CA, or New York. However, aviation officials have emphasized that nobody has claimed responsibility for a bomb attack. The aircraft contained 199 passengers and 15 crew, all of whom died.
