Investing for real life
Article Abstract:
Single people with no dependants or liabilities should be aware when choosing a savings plan that many of these plans contain an element of life assurance, which such people do not require. They should join their employer's pension scheme if they are entitled to, and should also consider making additional voluntary contributions to increase their pension. If they need to contribution to a personal pension plan in the meantime, they should select one that can be converted into free-standing additional voluntary contributions without additional charges.

Bond of gold still glitters
Article Abstract:
With-profits bonds continue to offer better returns than building society accounts and other low-risk investments. There is no guarantee on the returns on with-profits bonds, but these investments are still lower risk than most stockmarket funds. When selecting a with-profits bond, it is important to take into account factors including the past record of the provider, the financial strength of the life company and allocation rates.
