Sickies, lies, videos and tapes
Article Abstract:
UK insurance companies make extensive use of investigators to check on claims suspected of being fraudulent. This practice is particularly common in the permanent health insurance sector, where dishonest claimants are sometimes tempted to continue taking money from their insurance company after they are fit to return to work. Insurers believe that the use of private investigators is a key element in the battle against fraudulent claims, but some observers have reservations about the use of private investigators, especially as private investigators are not regulated.

Insurers rule out payment for Millennium bug claims
Article Abstract:
Insurance companies are adding special Millennium exclusions to their policies, ensuring that they will not be liable to meet the cost of repairing or replacing equipment affected by the year 2000 computer date change. In theory, household and motor insurance policies are not in any case designed to reimburse damage such as failure caused by the year 2000 computer date change, but insurance companies do not want to run the risk of being held liable.
