Investments
Article Abstract:
The launch of the UK's first open-ended investment vehicle (Oeic), due to take place in Jul 1996, is likely to spark off a move towards a wider choice of domestic and international products for investors in mutual funds. Shares in Oeics will have a single price for both purchases and sales, thus making them easier to manage. They will operate in broadly the same way as unit trusts, but will have a corporate structure. This will ensure that the UK becomes more aligned with practice in other countries.

Looking for long-term growth?
Article Abstract:
A number of split-capital investment trusts are currently being launched by companies including M and G and Fleming Worldwide. These are made up of income shares, which receive all the income and have a fixed redemption price, and capital shares, which do not earn anything until the trust is dissolved and its gains are paid out. The former are attractive to investors seeking rising income flow, while the latter are suitable for those requiring growth.
