Isle of pilgrims and martyrs
Article Abstract:
The Isle of Whithorn, Scotland, is an attractive harbour village situated in the Solway Firth between Dumfries, Scotland, and Stranraer, Scotland. It remains relatively undiscovered by tourists, and therefore has a very quiet, relaxing atmosphere. Visitors can take walks through unspoilt countryside, and can also fish and play golf. They may also wish to learn more of the history of the area, which is closely associated with St Ninian, the first missionary to bring Christianity to Scotland.

New Year's day of the dead
Article Abstract:
The island of Sulawesi, situated north-east of Java in the archipelago that forms Indonesia, is a fascinating place to visit. It has many different ethnic groups, including the Torajans, who live in Tanah Toraja, an extremely attractive region in the centre of Sulawesi. This area, which has become known for complex funeral rites and strange looking effigies of the dead that watch over ancestral lands, was almost completely undiscovered by tourists until relatively recently.

The art of English eccentricity
Article Abstract:
The town of Cheltenham, England, does not market itself very vigorously to visitors, but in fact has a considerable number of attractions. Its art gallery and museum has a number of interesting collections, including fine furniture in the Arts and Crafts gallery. There are still pump rooms at opposite ends of the town. Other attractions include a small museum in the house where composer Gustav Holst was born and the parish church of St Mary's.
