It may be the bleak midwinter, but the academic year starts here
Article Abstract:
Higher education institutions in the UK are beginning to respond to calls by the government to make provision for lifelong learning and to improve access for socio-economic groups which have traditionally been excluded from higher education. One of the ways in which they are responding is by becoming more flexible about when they admit students. It is now more common for full-time courses, especially those with a high proportion of mature students, to begin in Jan, rather than at the traditional time in Sep. In business schools, many part-time MBA programmes begin in Jan.
